
The National Youth Corps of Sri Lanka runs a volunteer project program for students who have completed their training period. A voluntary program like this was held at Kuliapitiya Vevagama Youth Corps the other day. Dr. Chrishantha Dissanayake, Sri Lankan Commissioner of the International Human Rights Commission and Founder / chairman / Director General was invited and participated in the event as the chief guest.
Major Mr. S.T.J.S Rosa, Officer-in-Charge of Kuliapitiya National Youth Corps, who showed interest in the voluntary programs carried out by the International Human Rights Commission and Shri Hela Cultural Collaboration Foundation in Sri Lanka. in the past, as the Sri Lankan Commissioner of the International Human Rights Commission to give strength and blessing to his students in this mission carried out by his children Dr. Chrishantha Dissanayake was invited.
According to Dr. Chrishantha Dissanayake, 50 children who will be sent to school for the first time for year 01 and very poor and innocent G.E.C. School equipment worth more than three and a half lakh rupees in Sri Lankan currency was also distributed to twenty children who are studying subjects for the advanced level examination. For this purpose, children were selected from the village service domains of Vevagama, Diyawala, Degammedda in Kuliapitiya Divisional Secretariat Division of Kurunegala District which are the surrounding villages.
Dr. Chrishantha Dissanayake promised to provide a very valuable social evaluation certificate every year for the children engaged in such social care and said that the International Human Rights Commission is ready to lend a hand to the young generation at any time for such care programs.
Also, addressing the gathering, Kuliapitiya National Youth Corps Center Commander, Major S.T.J.S Rosa, praised the International Human Rights Commission for the social work done in Sri Lanka, and he hoped that by sending children to this kind of work, he would inculcate compassion in young hearts, He stated that for creating and bequeathing a young generation with positive attitudes to the country.
